Bookmark Canada unveiled a Bookmark at the corner of East Pender St & Gore Ave., Vancouver acknowledging Wayson Choy the author of The Jade Peony. Issues dealt with in this novel include the sense of belonging to a nation, and how young Canadian born children of immigrants felt at this time. Another issue touched on in this book is sexuality, as one of the characters realizes he has homosexual feelings.
