SFU students vote in referendum March 16-18 on W2 financing

W2 provides SFU students a space to mix and create with Woodward's community

In the summer of 2010, W2 will move its media programs across the street to the Woodward's heritage building (next to SFU's new home). From within that 8,800 sf facility, the Simon Fraser Student Society (SFSS) and W2 are partnering up to provide a mixed space for DTES residents and SFU students with the W2 Cafe and W2 SFSS Lounge on W2's second floor.

A SFSS referendum is coming up on March 21 and we encourage you to join the W2 SFU Student Club to help organise support for the referendum. The March 16-18 referendum includes ballot question #2: Exception to Terms of Space Expansion Fund. A successful yes vote is needed in order to adapt the SFSS space expansion fund given it is currently limited to use for SFU-owned property and W2 is an independent space.

The question reads: Do you support an exception to the terms of the Space Expansion Fund to allow the acquisition and maintenance of Student Society space in the W2 Community Media Arts Society space at the Woodwards development in Vancouver? (Yes / No)

The referendum passed during last week's Simon Fraser Student Society elections. Thanks to all those who voted!
