Women producers have forged innovation in the Vancouver digital art scene. Panel speakers will provide actionable insights into the field of digital production and provide a context for understanding women’s unique contributions to this dynamic industry.
Elizabeth Vander Zaag, has been working in video and computer arts since the 1970s. She has an extensive exhibition history internationally. She founded and coordinated Front Multimedia (1993-1999) and has lectured across Canada and the United States since the 1980s. Her recent project “Mother Tongue” mines our visual sense of language by an interactive spectrograph.
Jennifer Roworth, is an electronic music producer with her music being released internationally under the alias's Queensyze and Supercycle. With over 10-years experience as an electronic musician, her music has been played by DJ's worldwide, has been licensed to films, and has remixed for the game Need for Speed. Jennifer works professionally in the film industry,
presently working at the National Film Board of Canada and sits on the Executive Board for Women in Film Vancouver.
Julie Andreyev, an artist and Associate Professor at Emily Carr University of Art + Design, Vancouver, BC, CA. Her most recent work Animal Loverexplores animal consciousness and creativity through modes of interspecies collaboration and aleatoric methods, to produce interactive installation, video, social media, and performance projects.
Cease Wyss, has been producing independent media artworks since the early 90’s. She worked under senior artists for several years, in her pursuit of knowledge and experience in the arts. Cease is currently embarking on a cultural and artistic journey with the Ullus Collective, through “Picto-Prophesy”, a group show that looks at our combined histories, with our combined futures as Indigenous Peoples. Some of her most recent artworks: Talking Poles, 2011; Stanley Park Environmental Art project, 2009;and W2 Soul Gardens Mural Project.
Lisa De Lux, is a DJ, music producer and educator working at The School of Remix. She is an advocate on breaking barriers for female dj's and has toured headlining in major cities including Atlanta, Honolulu, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Oakland, vist www.lisadelux.com
Miche Stirling, known as Mama Miche , is a talent agent and DJ working at Stirling Agency, with over 10 years in the music industry. She has hosted an impressive roster of Canadian and International Artists and frequently promotes "One-Off" tours for DJ acts touring Canada for the first time, vist www.stirlingagency.com
