Event Description

The largest women's lineup in electronic music western Canada has ever seen! Daytime unconference (with 150 participants) & evening showcase (1000+ attendees) celebrating women and digital culture.

Starring Peaches (Berlin), Tanya Tagaq (NWT), Isis Salam (Toronto), Cris Derksen, Betti Forde (Toronto), B-Traits (London/YVR), Librarian, Lynx (Oakland), Zenobia Salik, She, Blondtron, Lady Lane, Tank Girl, Miss M, Just Sheila, Bles-sed, The Square Root of Evil, Miss Innocent, JNL, Tapes + more. Media artists VJ Electrabelle, Julie Gendron, Sebnem Ozpeta, Claudia Medina, Krista Lomax + more TBA.

Morning Skills Workshops (10am-12noon, all ages), Mobile Dance Party-meet at Broadway Skytrain (12:30pm-2pm), Conference (2-8), Evening Program (8-10:30), Showcase! (10:30-late, 19+). Celebrate women making music and the 100th Anniversary of International Women's Day.

Five creative streams are being presented: electro, hip hop, bass, elctro-acoustic and live cinema. Produced by W2, and curated by DJ Betti Forde, Nina Mendoza, DJ Librarian, and Irwin Oostindie.

The Festival coincides with the 100th Anniversary of International Women's Day and its theme: 100 Women, 100 Artworks.

Proceeds support W2's Second Annual Girls Creative Tech Summer Camps (8-14 years).

    •    While the unconference and training sessions are open to women only, everything else men are welcome.

10am-12noon Morning Music-Making Workshops 
Hands-on creative technology workshops electronic music production, turntabling, video production, music journalism. All levels of experience welcome including youth (15-19 year olds) 12 – 1pm Lunch

. Meet at Broadway skytrain 12:30pm for a live pirate radio broadcast and dance party down The  Drive in celebration of the 100th anniv International Women’s Day.

Utopia Now Internship
Pre-Festival: March 1-4, 2011, 12-5pm
Production and creation sessions providing mentored training for 20 interested women volunteers with a 4-day work experience building the festival.
