PAN AFRICAN SLAM

*PAN AFRICAN SLAM* is the annual flagship event of the BeDRoC Collective. It is a cultural celebration of spoken word, poetry, monologue, dance, music, hip-hop lyricism, literary and performing arts featuring the stories of people of African descent. It is open to all who want to attend showcase their creative talents with respect to Pan Africanism, Moorish American knowledge and Black History Month
PAN AFRICAN SLAM 2013 is a showcase of the creative talents of the community at Calabash Bistro (428 Carrall Street). Our features include Chicago native Patricia Smith, the most successful slam poet in NPS** history; perennial powerhouse Adelene da Soul Poet, "I LIVE STILL" dance performance by Robert Halley & Marion Landers and "TAHARKA TRIAD" epic poetry by Scruffmouth the Scribe. Music by FREESTYLE: The Art of Rhyme director DJ Organic and hosted by Sonya Littlejohn and Dana "I.D." Matthews. Suggested donation is $10. Doors at 8pm.

*PAN AFRICAN SLAM is an African-American poetry showcase of the **National Poetry Slam (NPS) in Austin, TX 2006-7 hosted by the superpoet team of Lyn Procoppe & Roger Bonair-Agard. This was the inspiration for PAN AFRICAN SLAM in Vanrock, Coast Salish Territories, Canaanland, Northwest Africa Amexem. El Jones (NS), John Akpata (ON), Jive Poetic (NY), Adelene da Soul Poet (BC), Mahogany Browne (NY), T. Miller (MI), Nyah Umojah (NY) are some of the poets that have spoken their truth at this incredible event of cultural edutainment.

The essence of Pan Africanism is unity. Our planet is an orb that is in alignment with the galactic Black hole which provides the cosmic origin of our dark matter consciousness. We are honored that you took the time to connect the cosmic dots. We are all stars bursting with life force, forming communities of constellations.
